Sonoma County Web Developers Special Interest Group

About Us

Sonoma County Web Developers SIG (Special Interest Group) provides a friendly environment for Internet professionals and students to get to know each other. Through discussion of topics related to Web development, members can exchange information and explore business and educational opportunities in the North Bay. We welcome anyone who wants to become more involved in the cutting-edge of technology. Joining SCWD will put you on the “inside track” of the ever-changing Web industry.

The SIG consists of member volunteers who plan events and coordinate meetings with guest speakers. Speakers with a particular area of expertise travel from the Bay Area and beyond to share their insights with us. Monthly meeting subjects vary to reflect the many aspects of Web development, and to accommodate the needs of our membership. Our members range from the beginning student to the established professional.

We help define, promote, and train members on best practices in the areas of business development, marketing, recruiting, training, product development, customer management, e-commerce and other matters. Through our Advisory Board, we build and maintain relations with nonprofit organizations, businesses, media and educational organizations so that Sonoma County will continue to cultivate, promote, and utilize high-quality talent from Web-related professions.

SCWD is continually upgrading member services, which include useful Internet tools, tips and tricks, software reviews, job postings and a classified ad marketplace for used hardware and software in sellable condition. We are currently developing a Web Board forum, and accepting topic suggestions. Members also enjoy free access to all SIG events and discounts on books, products and seminars.

Meetings are held monthly at the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County on the second Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; with refreshments and socializing in the first half hour and the featured guest speaker starting at 7:00 p.m. See our Events section to find out what’s coming up.
